Location: Port Harcourt
Role Purpose
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the asset integrity, asset preservation, and mechanical reliability of the Liquid Mud Plant. By executing rigorous scheduled maintenance, routine inspections, and rapid repair routines, this role prevents operational downtime, ensures health and safety compliance, and maintains all mixing, pumping, and storage assets in peak operating condition.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Execute all scheduled preventive and predictive maintenance routines on plant pumps, agitators, centrifuges, silos, valves, and piping systems.
- Champion asset preservation initiatives by monitoring equipment wear, conducting non-destructive checks, and executing proactive repairs.
- Respond immediately to mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical equipment malfunctions to minimize operational downtime and maintain service delivery.
- Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental protocols, including Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) and Work Permit procedures during all maintenance activities.
- Maintain accurate, comprehensive maintenance logs and asset histories to support overall operations integrity and audit readiness.
- Collaborate closely with LMP Supervisors and Operators to troubleshoot machinery issues and train operators on routine equipment care, demonstrating strong teamwork.
- Manage spare parts inventory and tools, identifying procurement needs early to ensure zero maintenance delays.
- Uphold zero non-compliance with corporate asset integrity standards, equipment certification rules, and safety mandates.
- Eliminate cost of poor quality by ensuring all repaired equipment is calibrated and performance-tested prior to returning to service.
- Show adaptability in managing emergency maintenance interventions outside regular work hours to support urgent client demands.
Education & Work Experience
- National Diploma (ND), Higher National Diploma (HND), or Vocational Trade Certificate in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of hands-on plant maintenance experience in an industrial chemical or oilfield fluid plant environment.
Competency & Skill Requirements
- Advanced mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair skills.
- Deep understanding of asset integrity management systems, computer maintenance software, and preventive maintenance frameworks.
- High sense of ownership and responsibility for plant asset health and operational readiness.
- Excellent teamwork, communication, and safety-first mindset.

- Downtime Reduction: Zero unplanned plant downtime resulting from deferred or inadequate scheduled maintenance.
- Asset Integrity Compliance: 100% completion of the preventive maintenance master schedule on time.
- Zero Non-Compliance: Zero HSE incidents, LOTO violations, or safety non-conformances during maintenance work.
- Quality & Reliability: 100% first-time repair success rate on all critical plant machinery.
