Location: Port Harcourt.
Role Purpose
The LMP Operator carries out the core hands-on physical and operational tasks at the Liquid Mud Plant. Responsible for mixing chemical additives, operating pumps, valves, and manifold systems, loading and offloading transport vessels/trucks, and performing routine plant maintenance, the Operator works on the front line to ensure health, safety, quality, and service delivery while demonstrating strong teamwork, adaptability, and personal ownership.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Execute daily operational tasks including fluid mixing, transfers, pit cleaning, and loading/unloading bulk chemicals and liquid mud.
- Add chemical additives safely and accurately to fluid batches according to mixing sheets and supervisor instructions.
- Perform basic fluid property measurements and record drilling fluid parameters under the guidance of the Lab Officer and Supervisor.
- Maintain accurate environmental discharge, fluid volume transfer, and product consumption logs as required by regulations.
- Follow standard operating procedures and daily reporting processes to maintain high operations integrity.
- Conduct regular visual inspections of valves, pumps, lines, and tanks to support asset preservation and identify leaks or faults early.
- Ensure a high standard of plant housekeeping, keeping mixing bays, chemical stores, and loading areas clean and safe.
- Strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental rules, wearing designated PPE and participating in daily toolbox meetings.
- Work collaboratively as a supportive team member during shift operations, demonstrating high adaptability to changing work priorities.
- Strive for zero non-compliance, zero cost of poor quality (no spills or mixing mistakes), and zero operational downtime during shift duties.
Education & Work Experience
- High School Diploma, Ordinary National Diploma (OND), or Vocational Technical Training.
- 1–3 years of operational experience in an industrial manufacturing, chemical handling, or oilfield services environment.
Competency & Skill Requirements
- Physical stamina, manual dexterity, and ability to operate industrial valves, pumps, and mixing equipment safely.
- Basic knowledge of chemical handling safety, MSDS/SDS protocols, and fluid transfer mechanics.
- High sense of personal ownership, discipline, attention to detail, and safety consciousness.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.

- Zero Non-Compliance: 100% adherence to personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements and safe work procedures.
- Zero Cost of Poor Quality: Zero chemical spillage, fluid batch contamination, or transfer errors during shift execution.

- Asset Preservation: 100% completion of assigned daily housekeeping and visual equipment check routines.
